This blog began as a description of our life in Al Ain, UAE (United Arab Emirates). Brn worked at the UAE University Libraries Deanship for three years and Bss homeschooled our four children, D, B, P, and O. After returning to the the USA for five years, we are living in Abu Dhabi now.

The reason you do not see it is because some miscreant has probably parked all over it.
That could be. The parking in Al Ain, especially downtown, sometimes leaves a lot to be desired.
Brn - there is handicapped parking alright, but those with enought wasta to avoid having anything said to them by anyone, including the police or mall security use it to get closer to the door of the shop or mall - and are usually driving very expensive new cars. They are too lazy to walk any distance to get where they are going!
I have now seen a few handicapped spaces, but certainly not as many as back home. I just haven't been looking for them.
