In response to the overwhelming demand, here are a couple of photos of the camel statues that the university has scattered around the town:

Thanks to keeie for the links to the sites that cover the camel, horse, and falcon artwork in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The kids loved the Spidey Camel, even changing the words to the Spiderman song to be more appropriate (mostly by including a line about how "he'll spit on you").

My Little One had great fun 'spotting' the camels. There was great disappointment when they were removed.
Did you get to see the horses in Dubai? They were also quite cool.
They've been removed? Hey, didn't notice.
Frankly, my dear people: who designed these camels? What's with that nose? A face within a face? Anything else I can live with.
(Note to elle: The Dubai horses are disappointingly smaller than lifesize.)
Oh well, that's why everyone's 15% pay rise went..ha ha ha
We saw some of the horses in Dubai last spring(?). The little kids wanted to get on them, especially the one at Ibn Battuta.
Nice pics.
Cant believe they removed them off the streets. We should have more of these ornamental stuff for display on the roads.

It looks like there is Pizza Hut behind that camel? Dost mine eyes deceive me?
Yep, that is one of the three Pizza Huts in Al Ain.
Half of the camels were designed by UAE University students and the other half were created by WATANI.
