This blog began as a description of our life in Al Ain, UAE (United Arab Emirates). Brn worked at the UAE University Libraries Deanship for three years and Bss homeschooled our four children, D, B, P, and O. After returning to the the USA for five years, we are living in Abu Dhabi now.

A Lovely Afternoon
This is the perfect time to live in Al Ain. In an earlier post, Brn shared pictures of flowers that are blooming in our area. Increase that by the hundreds to get an accurate mental image of Al Ain right now. Beautiful! The weather right now is perfect. I will be the first to admit that I have been cold this winter. However, the temps this week have been fabulous! Perfect weather for spending time together at one of Al Ain's many parks. This afternoon we packed a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon at Towayya Park. In my opinion, this is the most beautiful park in Al Ain. Every time I step foot into the park, my entire body relaxes because of all of the greenery. It's the closest I can come to feeling like being back home. We lounged on our mat, ate hotdogs and carrot sticks, and watched the kids play. Brn stretched out and took a nap. I dozed off a few times, myself, with O snuggled in my lap. It was so nice to walk around and notice all of the other families who had the same idea we had......a picnic in the park with family. I only hope the weather stays this way for several more weeks so we can enjoy many more park days together!

Yes indeed, Al Ain is heavenly this time of the year, well most of the UAE is.
It's a beautiful sunny day here in New York City, but it's soooooooooo cold and freezing.

About your question on my blog, I am not familiar with the other curricula you mentioned. So no...I didn't do a comparison. (What is AS1 and AS2? I've been racking my brains. Thought I knew 'em all!) I'll gladly answer any specific questions you may have about Sonlight, though.

thanks aat. We just switched over to the new version of blogger yesterday, so some bugs still are still being worked out, but overall I like it.
I recommend the Air Show in the afternoon, its a great show :-)
The Towayya Park is great for families, you don't find the trolls that you usually find in other parks. I would like to know how you feel on the way the families are called using the speakers. Its the only way men call ladies out (of course their own, lol) in ladies' parks.
I have never heard families called using the speakers. That's interesing........I'll have to keep my ears open for that during our next visit. We skipped the air show on purpose.....we have a couple of kids who are very sensitive to loud noises. We did get a pleasant surprise in that regard, though. While we were relaxing, we looked up and saw the planes doing their tricks! I feel like we had the best of both situations.....the beauty and comfort of the park, along with the excitement of watching the planes fly from a distance.
