According to this report from Reuters, the "lifestyle of young males leads to higher death rate". I for one am shocked, shocked that the reckless driving and foolish chance taking that young males are known for results in more deaths for them.
One thing that the report missed out on is the fact that men are much more likely to have dangerous jobs too, which also would affect the death rate.
