As I noted last year, the Sheikha Salama Mosque is closed. I had been told that it was to be torn down and replaced. Not too long ago, a construction fence was put up around it, and now work has begun.
From the looks of the work, it is hard to tell if they are going to demolish the structure or not. The windows have all been removed and many of the decorations, but they may just be removing that before they begin knocking the frame down. Or they could just be planning on refurbishing the existing structure. Either way, this is how it looks right now.
