This mosque is behind the Markhaniya ADNOC station (which is actually in Khabisi and not Markhaniya, but don't get me started on this subject) and the Matar (airport) Service Center.

This mosque is downtown a couple of blocks from the Murabbaa Roundabout.





This area outside the mosque is (I'm guessing, but I think correctly) an area for people to pray outside when the inside is full. Note the fans hanging from the ceiling.

This mosque is in Al Foah, just to the right of the first roundabout on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.

This mosque is on the eastern edge of Towayya, out near the "Dubai bypass" road.

I haven't seen any other mosques in town that have this many domes:

A couple of smaller mosques that stand out because of their color

I have forgotten where this one was, but the red made us stop and snap this one. The minaret is pretty distinctive too.


I have forgotten where exactly this one is too. The green color and the unusual window shapes were what made us stop.


This one is in the Naseriyya community in Khabisi. I see the blue on the minaret every day on my way home from work, so we drove over to see the rest of it.

This mosque is on the road to Salamat, just as it leaves Al Ain.

The Mosques of Al Ain - #19

This is a new mosque that doesn't seem to be open yet; it still doesn't have a paved parking lot. I think that it is in the Maqam district - it is on Jamia' Street east of the Girls' UAEU Campus.

The Mosques of Al Ain - #18

This is another mosque in the Falaj Hazzaa district, just a short distance from the last one. The color is what jumped out at me here. I'm not sure what you call this color; like most straight men, I stopped learning new colors in kindergarten. Bss calls it peach-pink.

This front entrance is quite striking. I don't recall having seen the decorative pattern that is above and around the arches before.

These windows that are on the minarets have an interesting shape, and the green makes a nice contrast with that other color.

The Mosques of Al Ain - #17

This mosque is in Falaj Hazzaa, just past the entrance to the Traffic Police Office and north of the Zoo Roundabout. The tiles look a lot like this mosque, which make me wonder if they had the same architect.

I haven't noticed an other mosques that have this round feature. Does anyone know what it is?


This is also the only place in Al Ain that I have seen this brick sidewalk pattern. It is a really interesting tessallation, very like a leaf.

The Mosques of Al Ain - #16

This mosque is on the Hilton road by the Intercontinental Hotel. It has a very modern looking design, with a glass pyramid instead of the more traditional dome on top. It also is sort of pink in color, which doesn't come out in this picture (I took this the day of the sandstorm, so I can only guess that it was the light that day).

This one is on Baladiya Street between the Baladiay (Bird) and Sheikh Mubarak (Incense Burner) Roundabouts. It is not new and is beginning to show its age, but still has a lot of beautiful features.
